Aria Scarlett is a classically trained vocalist with a passion for musical diversity. With two degrees from the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA), Aria is passionate about pushing classical music beyond its regular boundaries.
The mundane regularity of classical music has gotten to the point where even the most novice audience member can predict the outcome. Aria Scarlett returns colour to a dull cadence, brightens up a grey arpeggio and repaints story telling so that language is no barrier.
After performing in operas such as Hansel and Gretel, Dido and Aeneas and the world premiere of Melba, Aria looked for more unconventional avenues that she could lend her voice to.
In 2018 & 2019 Aria was a featured soloist during Gascoyne in May, where she sang in the ocean, on roof tops and in collaboration with circus, classical and pop acts.
In 2019 Aria released her first solo written and produced show ‘Chopera’ to a sold-out crowd at the Backlot Perth, the EP (extended play) of the same name can be found on all streaming platforms.
Aria may be classically trained but she has never suited the mold of a classical singer. A passion for diversity, performance arts, collaboration and the aspiration to run away and join the circus, this is a performer to grab hold of, while you have the chance.
